FAQ Thriving Mamas Yoga Retreat
What if I’m new at yoga or not really good at yoga?
- No worries my dear! This is a common question, just know that you are in the right place! The classes are accessible for all levels! We all practice to get better!
- Everyone: both new and seasoned yogis, will receive expert guidance and support with many options and clear instructions.
- You will enjoy a holistic approach to yoga to make your yoga practice your own unique experience!
- Yoga is much more than doing postures or a “work-out”! You will experience relaxing and restorative stretches, energizing breathing exercises, calming meditations and empowering ways of focusing your attention!
- Yoga is not a “one-size-fits-all” type of practice. But an empowering body-mind practice with your unique expression of your yoga journey!
What if I’m not flexible?
- Unfortunately this common misconception stops a lot of people from even starting yoga. Flexibility is not a prerequisite! Come as you are and do what you can!
- You will achieve healthy flexibility with regular practice and the tools you’ll learn during class.
- A good yoga practice is a balance between strength and healthy flexibility, physically as well as emotionally and mentally.
What is done in a typical yoga class?
- The yoga class is movement based with a balance between strengthening and stretching your body within your range of motion.
- Everything is encouraged but optional!
- Part of the practice is to listen to your body: challenging yourself where you can and taking a step back where needed.
- Having lots of fun together in your yoga journey!
What can I expect from a meditation class, I’ve never meditated before?
- Every meditation class will start with one or a few (calming) breathing exercises as a preparation for meditation.
- You will be guided step by step through the meditation(s) and there is plenty of time and space to ask questions.
- Every meditation is beneficial, even if you feel like you had a hard time staying focused. It’s very normal to notice thoughts coming up.
It’s also normal to fidget or to feel a little frustrated or challenged to sit still. All you need to do is try to notice anything and everything that comes up and be kind to yourself! All your efforts will be rewarded!
