Blissful Morning Yoga

“The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don’t go back to sleep.” Rumi

Waking up early might not be easy and waking up early to exercise can be a challenge! Especially now that we’re entering the cold winter days in the Northern Hemisphere.

But once you’re up and doing your morning exercise routine you might agree that it feels good and it feels even better to check that off your list, right?

I was never a real morning person. But doing yoga first thing in the morning is my non-negotiable form of self-care. To take some time, usually around 30-60 minutes but even 5 minutes makes a difference, can really set the tone for the day.

In today’s class you’ll get a glimpse of some of the poses I do on a daily basis to give myself a full body stretch, breathe, find peace and calm in my head and at the same time strengthening my body and mind. All that in 15 minutes!

Build healthy habits

Having a steady, consistent yoga practice has lots of benefits. It doesn’t have to be a full 90 minute yoga class, even though that feels pretty good too! It’s better to do a little something every day than one full class a week.

No matter what happens during the day, that time you took for yourself in the morning has powerful effects that will trickle into your day. The more you practice it, the more it becomes a (healthy) habit.

Try it with me, do it when you first get up. I prefer practicing yoga on an empty stomach, but as always listen to your own body and adapt your yoga practice to your lifestyle, to meet your needs.

Enjoy!
