3 Tips For Back Pain Relief
Back pain sucks, I know… but I’ve got your back!
It obstructs us from feeling good and being able to do the things we want to do. But there are ways to relief back pain and I’ll share my top 3 tips with you!
My 3 Tips
- Move your body
Intuitively you might want to lie in bed to rest your back. But it’s actually better to gently move your body. Physical therapy is great if you got the referral from your Primary Care Physician, but if you don’t have access to it, no worries. There are ways to relieve back pain.
My suggestion to relieve back pain is yoga. Yoga is a wonderful way to not only relieve back pain but also as a prevention and to keep your back healthy. You can strengthen your back as well.
It’s important that you listen to your body at all times and whenever something hurts or if you feel tingling sensations, then know that you need to stop the movement or pose you’re doing.
If you have an office job, sitting down behind a desk, it’s common to experience back pain. To prevent this, take little breaks every 30 minutes. It doesn’t have to be long. Just 1-2 minutes standing up, stretching out, sipping water while standing up, can make a difference.
- Good Posture
Working on good posture is important for our spinal health. Having bad posture is not good for circulation, it can make us feel fatigued and more prone to stress.
Nowadays many of us have bad posture as we hunch our back to check our phone. This causes tension in our neck and shoulders.
Whenever you catch yourself slouching your shoulders, remember to relax your shoulders away from your ears, slightly open your chest and lengthen the back of your neck (slightly lower your chin parallel to the ground).
- Sleep
During pregnancy my lower back felt very weak and even postpartum I suffered from low back pain. I discovered that sleeping properly made a big difference. If you lie on your back, place a pillow under your knees. This way there’s no strain or tension in your lower back.
If you are a side sleeper, place a pillow in between your knees and thighs. A bonus is to hold or hug a pillow while sleeping for full support.
Try these tips and see how it works for you.
