Yoga and Hurricane Dorian

I was actually going to write a blog about extending the exhale to release stress and how it has been my little trick to quickly release stress. It was something that I learned about it in a scuba diving class, even before I was familiar with a yoga breathing exercise that I’ll guide you through in my video.

A fellow yoga teacher had shared this amazing article (click here) in Psychology Today that talks about extending the exhales and I was so excited about it, especially this:

“These studies corroborate that longer exhalations are an easy way to hack the vagus nerve, combat fight-or-flight stress responses, and improve HRV.”

But then there was Dorian…

Hurricane Dorian. I currently live in Florida and ’tis the season.

Just as I finished filming this wonderful Stress Releasing Yoga Class for my YouTube Channel, I found out that hurricane Dorian was on it’s way towards Florida..

I turned the News Channel on and it was breaking news.. People were already preparing, stocking up on food, water and supplies, filling up on gas.

So my calm morning, enjoying filming this class that left me in a calm and peaceful state, more like in my own Yoga Bubble, turned into a slight panic. So I breathed… long exhales.

Try it with me!

Namasté!
